It is with a heavy heart I bring you news that StayAngel is closing.
The last 24 months has been an incredible ride and we've achieved many wonderful breakthrough innovations in the hotel industry.
Unfortunately, despite our optimism and relentless pursuit to forging a new path forward - we've been met with walls upon walls of resistance and as such unable to execute on the grand vision.
A major portion of this is technical challenges we've faced when integrating with hotels, which has become a significant financial burden on the business this year. As such - the business is no longer economically viable and we have decided to close.
We set out with a simple goal - to ensure you always had the best price when checking in to a hotel; and we are proud to say in this time StayAngel has helped members save more than USD $62,000 in over inflated hotel room rates. Even though we saved StayAngel
members $10,000's - the underlying business model was very much aligned with increasing revenue for hotels. While not apparent on the surface, StayAngel leveraged 'Suite Alerts' and intelligent use of big data and through this we were able to generate more than $1M in new revenues for Hilton, Hyatt and Starwood
properties from less than 30,000 room nights. We're very proud of our achievements in helping the hospitality industry and StayAngel had a lot of new innovations that would have genuinely helped both hotels and loyalty program guests get extra rewards - but unfortunately - we're out of runway.
Despite the challenges we faced; a number of organisations understood our vision and have been strong advocates of our cause. As such I'd like to extend a special thank you to Amadeus Next, IBM SoftLayer and American Airlines for their support.
To the members who made this all happen; thank you for being part of StayAngel; for supporting a start-up that set out to improve the way loyal hotel guests were recognised and rewarded. You can't win them all - however we certainly gave this one a decent crack of the whip.
